All good chefs need the right tools. If you’re in the Toronto area on a limited budget, here’s my recommendations for the top 3 shops (so far) for buying or just browsing:
Tap Phong on Spadina
In the heart of downtown Chinatown and a whiskey’s stone throw away from colourful Kensington market, Tap Phong provides restaurant supplies as well as gadgets for the Asian and Western kitchen.
Kitchen Stuff Plus; various locations.
This store proudly proclaims itself 100% Canadian and you can find brand name goods here at least 30% cheaper than Williams Sonoma.
Kitchen & Glass, Yonge street just north of Bloor
I only came in here to ogle what they had and ended up walking out with a huge bag full of goods. This place has been around for over 30 years and the friendly owners stock kitchen items that have also been around many years including a stainless steel ice cube tray with lever.
