Get Me a Salad Stat!

If you’ve been perusing my posts you will have seen a gratuitous picture of deep-fried butter. Should you choose to indulge in the plethora of fried food offered at summer fairs, carnivals and exhibitions, there are a few things you can do to offset the ill effects (quite literally) of consuming crap.

Fried food may be tasty on the tongue but can be taxing to the liver. The liver’s main job in the digestive process is to excrete bile which helps to break down fats for further processing. If you have consumed too much dietary fat, here are some natural ways to help mitigate subsequent stress on the liver:

  • Drink milk thistle OR dandelion tea to help improve liver function.
  • Eat a super size salad with lots of greens lightly coated in a liver-cleansing lemon vinaigrette on the day of your indulgence.
  • Drink lots of good quality water to ‘keep things moving‘ through and then out the GI (gastrointestinal) tract.

and if you must indulge, do so in moderation!
