It wouldn’t be Christmas without a swig of Sorrel.
Sorrel is one of the hibiscus species.
Research into sorrel has shown it to contain antioxidants, flavonoids and a whole host of vitamins and minerals. When combined with rum and ginger (or perhaps some pimento/allspice too), as is the holiday tradition in Jamaica, sorrel packs a powerful punch. I would like to make sorrel my drink of merriment for the holidays from now on. And a shot of pomegranate and cranberry juice would go nicely too.
